Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah have finally made up after their feud, which was highly publicized, back in 2020. The argument took place after Kher shared his pro-government stance after Deepika Padukone’s visit to JNU. This led to a heated exchange between the two, in which Shah referred to Kher as a “joker” and questioned his “blood.” Kher quickly responded on social media, mentioning that Shah is just “disappointed” despite his success. However, during a recent interview with Unfiltered by Samdish, Anupam Kher shared that Naseeruddin Shah has finally apologized for his remarks.

Anupam Kher talked about the incident in an interview that was shot near Independence Day, where she said, “I still feel that I have a lot of respect for Naseeruddin. However, he sometimes says unflattering things about me.” He then continued to share how they met at an event that was honoring HD Pathak. He shared, “We met recently, where he apologized to me—he said, ‘Sorry, friend!’ We met at HD Pathak’s passing.”
What does Kher think about Shah?
Kher talked about the meeting with warmth, sharing how he likes Shah a lot. He said, “I like him a lot, and he’s one of the actors who inspired me to get into acting.”
However, Kher revealed that he still felt shocked at the remarks made by Shah. He said, “Sometimes he says things like that.”
He also shared, “He is a talented and intelligent man, and God has blessed him with so much. There’s no bigger star than him in parallel cinema. Yet, I feel there’s a kind of bitterness that sometimes targets me, sometimes Dilip Kumar, and sometimes Rajesh Khanna.”
What was the conflict about?
The conflict between the two arose back in 2020, when, during an interview with The Wire, Naseeruddin Shah praised actress Deepika Padukone for taking a stand for JNU students. In the same conversation, he also ridiculed Kher’s political opinions and said, “A person like Anupam Kher has been very vocal… He’s a clown… It’s in his blood; he can’t do anything.”
Anupam Kher took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “You’ve spent your entire life, despite so much success, in despair… It’s not you speaking, but all the drugs you’ve consumed over the years. They’ve clouded your judgment.”
