After the death of the veteran actor on November 24, an old comment by Prakash Kaur, the first wife of Dharmendra, has been resurfacing. This remark has led to a fresh and new conversation being started online. For the unversed, the Dream Girl of India, Hema Malini, and the He-Man of Bollywood, Dharmendra, fell for each other on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawan. However, their love story became a little complicated, as Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur.

Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s love story became extremely controversial. For a long time, both of the families lived a parallel life. Dharmendra was married to Prakash Kaur, and he had four children with her. With Hema Malini, he built a separate home with daughters Esha and Ahana, their daughters. Hema had also shared that she had only met Prakash before the wedding. She continued to raise her daughters on her own, while Dharmendra often came to visit. He stayed committed to both the families in his own way.
Dharmendra and Prakash’s marriage
A lot of people do not know that one member of Dharmendra’s family did actually reach out to Hema. Dharmendra’s mother, Satwant Kaur, visited Hema at Esha’s birth. This marked a rare moment of connection between the two families. Dharmendra and Prakash got married in 1954, a long time before Dharmendra was exposed to fame and stardom. He fell in love with Hema Malini later and got married to her while also being married to Prakash. In an old interview clip that is being circulated again, Prakash had mentioned, “If I were in Hema’s place, I would not have done what she did. For, as a woman, I can understand her feelings. But as a wife and a mother, I do not approve of them,” she said that she understood Hema emotionally, but she could never accept her due to her marriage with Dharmendra.
