As soon as Dileep’s exoneration was pronounced, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA,) which is the organization for actors in Malayalam movies, released a statement.
The hero of the Malayalam film industry, Dileep, who was considered a prime suspect in the infamous 2017 actress attack case, has been completely cleared. The Ernakulam Sessions Court has announced that the accusations of a plot against him were not substantiated by evidence. As soon as Dileep’s exoneration was pronounced, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), which is the organization for actors in Malayalam movies, released a statement. The statement contained the message that the organization respects the court’s ruling and lets the law take its due course. This has given rise to fresh debates regarding Dileep’s return to AMMA. The reports circulating are diverse and suggest that the organization is definitely mulling over the option.

The most recent news indicates that an emergency AMMA general body meeting was convened in Kochi immediately after Dileep’s acquittal. The organization was prepared to take Dileep back in the past, but he had refused. At that juncture, Dileep had remarked that he would not return to AMMA until the court granted him a clean bill of health. Now that he has been declared innocent by the court, there is a chance that AMMA will request him back into the fold
It is believed that under the present conditions, if AMMA were to offer Dileep reinstatement, he would be amenable to it this time. He has won his legal battle, and this was the stipulation he had made for coming back to the organization. This further makes the case for his being active in AMMA again stronger.

It is a well-known fact that most AMMA members have been a support system for Dileep right from the start. A good number of the members even said they had no doubts at all about Dileep’s innocence. Though the organization still upheld its claim of being on the victim’s side, the victim, along with her close friends and supporters, resigned from AMMA. They accused the organization of being biased in its attitude and that she was not given enough support.
