Sholay The Final Cut: The 4K restored version of Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 directorial, Sholay, has been released today. The blockbuster and cult cinema of the Hindi film industry is now available with the original climax. The re-release of Sholay is also special as it marks the 50th anniversary of filmmaker Ramesh Sippy in Indian Cinema. The movie, which was originally released in 1975, accumulated a big amount of Rs 15 crore domestically and Rs 35 crore worldwide. After 50 years, the movie is expected to take the box office by storm, especially when the original climax is released.

The movie will have the original ending this time, which features Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) killing Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) to take his revenge for murdering his family members.

The film has been restored in 4K version with the original 70 mm aspect ratio of 2:2:1. Not only that the sound has also been restored using the original sound negative and magnetic soundtrack preserved by Film Heritage Foundation for an enhanced cinematic experience.

When the trailer of the restored version was dropped, some viewers were upset when they spotted a change in dialogue. In the trailer, it was revealed that James Bond was replaced by Tatya Tope in one of the significant dialogues. The alteration was not only criticised by fans and viewers but also by Javed Akhtar, who had written the film along with Salim Khan.

The film is set against the backdrop of a village named Ramgarh, where a retired police officer named Thakur Baldev Singh conspires to bring down a notorious bandit, Gabbar Singh. He hires two criminals, who fought against the bandits and saved the village.
