Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has always expressed his admiration for Messi. The actor, who owns Mumbai City FC, met his favourite sportsmen in 2011. It was the time when Messi was in Barcelona. He met Kapoor and fulfilled the latter’s dream-come-true moment. According to several media reports, Ranbir was like a school-going kid on meeting Messi. The Footballer at that time signed his cap and his number 8 jersey. Years later, in 2023, Ranbir Kapoor told ANI, “Every night before I sleep, I imagine myself on a football field. I don’t imagine myself on a movie set or being an actor or a star; I only imagine myself being a football player wearing the No. 8 jersey. I dream of passing the ball to Messi and Iniesta.” It would be interesting to see if Ranbir Kapoor again gets the chance to meet Lionel Messi.

Mohanlal’s gift from Messi
The Malayalam superstar’s meeting was very recent. In April this year, the actor received a special gift from Lionel Messi. Taking to his Instagram account, Mohanlal shared a video, in which the footballer can be signing a jersey of Mohanlal. At the end of the video, the superstar posed with the jersey. Mohanlal also wrote a long on Instagram to express his feelings. The post reads, “Some moments in life feel too profound for words. They stay with you forever. Today, I experienced one of those moments. As I gently unwrapped the gift, my heart skipped a beat—a jersey signed by the legend himself, Lionel Messi. And there it was… my name, written in his own hand. For someone who has long admired Messi, not just for his brilliance on the field but for his humility and grace, this was truly special. This incredible moment wouldn’t have been possible without the kindness of two dear friends: Dr. Rajeev Mangottil and Rajesh Philip. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. And above all, thank you, God, for this unforgettable gift.”
