Argentine footballer Lionel Messi is currently in India for his GOAT India tour. After the Kolkata and Hyderabad visit, the football legend landed in Mumbai. The star arrived at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai and will soon start the celebration as he continues his tour. Crowds have already begun gathering at the Cricket Club of India and Wankhede Stadium. The audience is carrying jerseys and Indian flags. Some Messi fans are gathering just to be present and see the legend.
The Mumbai leg happened after his visit to Kolkata and Hyderabad. The first day tour in Kolkata had seen ruckus at Salt Lake Stadium, where thousands of disappointed fans were struggling to catch a glimpse of Lionel Messi. The next day, the footballer participated in an exhibition match attended by Revanth Reddy, with the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in attendance. As the Mumbai leg was the next set of appearances for the footballer, city authorities ensured several safety and security measures to control the crowd.
Lionel Messi’s Mumbai visit
The footballer is expected to be at the Cricket Club of India for the Padel GOAT Cup. The exhibition match is supposed to see the attendance of several celebrities, including Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan. Around 5 pm, he will proceed to Wankhede Stadium for the main GOAT India Tour programme. It will be the start of a side exhibition, which involves several celebrities in attendance. The ceremony is expected to be one of the highlights of his Mumbai tour leg.
The day will end with a private charity fashion show and auction. The charity event is expected to be attended by Jackie Shroff, John Abraham and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Organisers with the authorities
Police officials said that they have asked event organisers to arrange facilities inside the stadiums. The special facilities include drinking water, seating, and clear communication about entry procedures. Ticket for the Mumbai leg is from Rs 5,000 to Rs 25,000. Police mentioned that it is important for the organisers to meet basic service expectations to avoid any kind of chaos. The police also stated that the venues have tighter access control. Entry and exit gates have been mapped out and shared with both the organisers and private security teams. Notably, the organisers are responsible for bringing Messi to India. Earlier this week, the Mumbai police had a meeting to finalise the security requirements.
