Saif Ali Khan gets MAJOR BLOW as Court rejects his plea, declares his royal properties as ‘Enemy Lan…
Bollywood nawab Saif Ali Khan faces a legal setback as MP High Court reopens Rs 15000 crore Bhopal Royal Inheritance case. Here’s what it is.
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has been in the news after he suffered a major legal setback when the Madhya Pradesh High Court reopened a high-stakes case concerning his family’s claim to ancestral royal properties in Bhopal. As per reports, his property is worth Rs 15,000 crore and the court has lifted a 2015 stay order, reviving a longstanding dispute which has been tied to India’s Enemy Property Act. The court was responding to an appeal by the heirs of Nawab Hamidullah Khan who have challenged the earlier property distribution that favoured Sajida Sultan who is the Nawab’s daughter from his senior wife and great-grandmother of actor Saif Ali Khan.
After his death, a dispute arose over the property and his eldest daughter, Abida Sultan had migrated to Pakistan in 1950. As per the Enemy Property Act, her share of the estate was deemed “enemy property” and hence subject to government control. Saif’s grandmother, Sajida Sultan, stayed in India and was termed the legal heir. The amended Enemy Property Act of 2017 allows the government to confiscate assets associated with anyone who migrated to Pakistan post-Partition.
Saif Ali Khan faces a setback?
Saif had contested the declaration in 2015 and secured a temporary stay from the High Court. On December 13, 2024, the High Court lifted the stay and dismissed his challenge. The court gave Saif and his family 30 days to approach the appellate tribunal to reclaim their rights over the property. But, no claim has been filed within the given time. The contested assets are Noor-us-Sabah Palace, Flag Staff House, and several other historic buildings and lands across Bhopal.
On the work front, Saif was last seen in the heist thriller Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. He will be seen next in the thrilling project, Haiwaan along with Akshay Kumar. Akshay and Saif have shared the screen for Tashan.
