South superstar Mahesh Babu has been embroiled in a big controversy for endorsing a real estate company in the past. According to reports in the Deccan Chronicle, the Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission issued notices over real estate firm endorsement of the actor. The legal step has been taken after receiving a complaint from a buyer who paid a huge amount for plots that didn’t even exist. The actor is accused of promoting misleading and fake deals and scamming buyers.
What are the legal notices sent to Mahesh Babu?
The matter came to light after a Hyderabad-based doctor filed a legal complaint, claiming to pay a whopping price of Rs 34.8 lakh for plots that did not exist. The doctor took the legal step after being defrauded by the deal from the company endorsed by Mahesh Baby in the past. According to reports, Mahesh has been named as the third respondent in the legal proceeding. He has been accused of promoting the Sai Surya Developers and misleading buyers. However, the actor’s legal team is yet to release their official statement on the matter.
Why did ED issue a summons to Mahesh Babu?
In April 2025, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) called Mahesh Babu for questioning in a money laundering case that involved the accused company, Sai Surya Developers, and Surana Group. According to reports in PTI, Kancharla Satish Chandra Gupta, owner of Sai Surya Developer, was under police investigation for allegedly failing to deliver the Green Meadows project.
According to reports, Mahesh Babu was the brand ambassador of the project and was reportedly paid Rs 5.9 crore in cash or cheque. As per the sources, the actor was not investigated as an accused and may not be involved in the scam. They claimed that the actor might have promoted the company without knowing the in-depth details.
