After 25 years, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is returning to the TV screens. The show that made Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay and others as household names, will be back to entertain the masses. The Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the show started in the year 2000. And it was the number one show till 2008. Now, 25 years later, it reboot version is going to hit the TV screens. Fans are more than excited for the show. As the premiere date is approaching, Ekta Kapoor penned a lengthy note reflecting on the success of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and revealed why she planned to bring back the show after so many years.
Ekta Kapoor answers Why Kyunki, Why Now?
In a lengthy note shared on Instagram, Ekta Kapoor answered the most asked question – Why Kyunki, Why Now? She said that the show holds a strong nostalgia value and her first reaction to relaunch the show was a firm no. She said that one can never compete with nostalgia. She also shared that the television space has changed but then she spoke about the TRP numbers of the show and wondered was Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi was just a show with high numbers? She then cited a research carried out by international body stating that the show gave voice to women in Indian homes.
Ekta Kapoor further explained that the abrupt ending of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi lingered in the minds of the makers. She added, “So when Kevin Vaz, his team and the network heads and the Balaji team got into a discussion I thought to myself… Can we keep Kyunki away from today’s storytelling formats and focus once again on the issues that television once bravely addressed and dealt with? Can we make it about impactful stories, not TRPs? Can we reclaim the power to reach millions to actually change mindsets and thoughts?” Ekta Kapoor faced several questions about the impact of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi and she got her answer. She decided to bring back the show that is ‘not afraid to raise important questions, that spark conversations’.
Ekta Kapoor is dedicate to make an impact with the reboot version of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi.”The fight though, is not about winning. It is about Impact! To the show that’s not just ours, but also yours too!” she wrote.
