Shruti Haasan opened up about her spiritual side in a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, and said that she believes in astrology. She also spoke about witchcraft and following Wiccan religion.

Shruti Haasan talked about her spiritual side, embracing astrology and her belief in god, despite her father Kamal Haasan‘s strong atheist views. While talking to Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the actress shared that she has a firm belief in astrology and practices the Wiccan religion, a nature-based spiritual path often associated with witchcraft. However, her father, Kamal Hassan, is such an atheist that he hates it when she talks about religion or god in public. Despite Kamal’s disbelief in god, Sheuti added that art is the only religion that her father believes in.

What did Shruti reveal about her family?

Shruti said, ‘We grew up in a non-religious, atheist home. My dad really hates when I say this—but we didn’t have God in our house. No rituals, no religious symbols. It was all very alien to us.’ The actress added that her father never forced his beliefs on her, but the discussions about God, religion or astrology are not welcome in the house

What did Shruti say about her spiritual journey?

Continuing with the conversation, Shruti Haasan shared her profound bond with Wicca and Paganism, spiritual practices that honour nature, feminine energy, and ancestral heritage. She expressed feeling a deep connection to her female ancestors, that resonates with her and added, ‘We are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn’t burn.’

What did Shruti say about women in her family?

The actress believed that she had been drawn towards these faiths and beliefs in god, that has rooted in the matriarchal strength. These strength has been passed through generations of the women in her family.

Despite having a huge difference in spiritual take with her father, Shruti added that Kamal respects her choices and added, ‘My poor father,” she said with affection. He’s seen me be rebellious my whole life but never stopped me. He hates tattoos, and I have five.’ She even describes her childhood as creative and filled with chaos, where art was treated as a religion.
