Anupamaa actor Rupali Ganguly took to her social media account to react to the reports of Satyajit Ray’s ancestral home getting demolished in Bangladesh.
Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly is quite active on social media. The actress has also forayed into politics. In 2024, she jumped into politics as she joined Bharatiya Janta Party. The actress has been quite vocal about the matters that affect the nation. In her recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), she expressed her frustration over the demolition of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray in Bangladesh. She slammed the government of the neighbouring country and called it a ‘disgusting’ act.
Rupali Ganguly condemns demolition of Satyajit Ray’s ancestral home On X (formerly known as Twitter), Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly wrote that it is a ‘disgusting’ and ‘unforgivable’ act to demolish Bharat Ratna awardee Satyajit Ray’s home. She made a strong statement as she wrote, “Disgusting and unforgivable! Under the so-called “moral leadership” of Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh has demolished the ancestral home of Bharat Ratna Satyajit Ray in Bangladesh. This wasn’t just a demolition! it was a message: They fear art. They erase legacy. They glorify violence, not culture. This act exposes their true colours. #SatyajitRay.”

As per the latest reports, the Indian Government had also requested Bangladesh to reconsider the decision to demolish Satyajit Ray’s ancestral home. It was proposed that the single-storeyed building be converted into a museum. The Indian Government also reported offered help to restoring and repairing the structure. However, the structure has demolished and the act is receiving strong criticism.
All about Satyajit Ray’s ancestral home in Bangladesh As per reports, the building belonged to Upendra Kishor Ray Chowdhury. He was Satyajit Ray’s grandfather and a very well-known name in Bengali literature. The structure came under the ownership of Bangladeshi Government post partition in 1947. In 1989, the building was used as Mymensingh Shishu Academy.
