Sitaare Zameen Par : Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is all set to amaze everyone with his much-awaited film Sitaare Zameen Par which will hit the theatres on June 20. The sports comedy-drama is a sequel to Aamir’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Helmed by RS Prasanna, the film stars Genelia D’Souza along with Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar in interesting roles. The film is reportedly a remake of the Spanish film Campeones and focuses on a basketball coach who is forced to train a team of differently abled children for a tournament.

As per early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk.com, the film has earned approximately Rs 99.74 lakh in bookings on its opening day. The film has sold 38,770 tickets sold across 6,128 shows nationwide. The Hindi version seems to be dominating the pre-release buzz with its revenue which is about Rs 90.64 lakh from 5,764 shows and 29,689 ticket sales. The Tamil version of Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 1.22 lakh from 88 shows and 973 tickets, while the Telugu version earned Rs 7.87 lakh from 276 shows. As per reports, the film is all set to earn Rs 3.61 crore on its opening day. Delhi has sold Rs 24.09 lakh tickets in advance and Maharashtra has sold Rs 15.73 lakh, and Telangana is on the third spot with Rs 12.47 lakh.

The film received its certification from the CBFC and reportedly Khan’s objections to making some cuts in the film was a reason for the delay. “With Aamir Khan not accepting the cuts, the censor certificate wasn’t awarded to Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir now plans to once again meet the CBFC Examining Committee on Monday and put forward his point of view. Hopefully, a solution will be achieved and the CBFC will pass the film on June 16,” said the source told Bollywood Hungama.
