Recently, Suniel Shetty talked about one of the most memorable parts of his filmmaking career, which is, filming the romantic song “To Chalun” from Border (1997). The emotional depth of this specific song, together with a personal issue involving his little daughter Athiya, has permanently carved it in Shetty’s consciousness, despite the film’s reputation for nationalistic passion. Suniel revealed in an interview with Pinkvilla that he was first anxious about shooting the suhaagraat song “To Chalun” in Border (1997).
But after director JP Dutta told him about the song, Shetty realised that only Dutta could manage it so delicately. He praised the stunning filming and referred to it as the most memorable shot of his career.

According to Suniel, who described the scene’s development, the sound of the MIG represents the constant call of duty as his character gazes up at the sky. The soldier reinforces Border’s main point that the country comes first by marching forward without turning around after being reminded of his duties.

He also shared a personal story that added even more significance to the shoot. On the same night that the song was being filmed, his three-year-old daughter Athiya had a high fever. Suniel expressed concern for her well-being and stated that he had to return her from Delhi to Mumbai because of an impending storm. He called frequently during the shoot to make sure she arrived safely and was getting the care she needed. He acknowledged that he would never forget that tense evening until he received word from his wife, Mana, that Athiya was okay and receiving medical attention.
