The actress allegedly assaulted producer Karan Singh Chauhan with her sandal due to a Rs 23 lakh financial dispute. The incident was captured on camera and has gone viral, sparking curiosity about Ruchi Gujjar’s background and the controversy.
When did Ruchi file an FIR?
The controversy began when Ruchi filed an FIR on July 24, 2025, at Mumbai’s Oshiwara Police Station, accusing the producer and the So Long Valley team, alleging they defrauding her of Rs 23 lakh. The actress claimed that the producer had taken the money and promised a TV role, profit sharing, and on-screen credit that never materialised.
What did Ruchi’s supporters do?
Just a day after filing the complaint, Ruchi confronted the producers at the premiere of the film, attacking them with her sandal in front of cameras and supporters. The supporters even demanded that the film’s release be halted until her dues were cleared. As per a report by NDTV, Ruchi Gujjar now faces charges under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including assault and criminal intimidation.

What did director Karan Singh say?
Ruchi’s lawyer has even planned to file a counter-assault complaint against Karan Singh Chauhan at the Amboli police station. However, the director has slammed the incident, citing it as a public stunt. He even claimed that the actress had earlier tried to halt the film’s release and said, ‘Ruchi and Karan know each other well. If she actually gave him money, she should show proof. This is just a drama for attention.’
Coming to Ruchi Gujjar’s personal life, she was born in Mehara Gujarwas village in Rajasthan and comes from a traditional Gujjar family and studied at Maharani College in Jaipur. She gained fame after winning Miss Haryana in 2023. The actress gained the spotlight after appearing in music videos like Jab Tu Meri Na Rahi, Heli Mein Chor, and Ek Ladki. Interestingly, the actress attended the 78th Cannes Film Festival, where she wore a gold Rajasthani lehenga and Bandhani dupatta, which was complemented with a necklace featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image.
