I’ve said it before, but I like reviewing gadgets that make my life a bit easier and more pleasant. But I love reviewing gadgets that surprise me in a good way. When I received the Thermacup Temperature Control Mug for review, my first thought was, “Oh, that’s nice (yawn).” After a month of everyday use, my reaction now is, “Oh, that’s really nice!”

What is it?
The Thermacup Temperature Control Mug is a heat-controlled 12 oz. mug that will keep a drink hot or just warm for at least an hour—or indefinitely when left on its charging coaster. The mug is a ceramic-coated stainless steel construction.
There are 5 heat settings to choose from, ranging from 110°F to 150°F. A removable slider lid helps prevent spills.
Two colors are offered: Midnight Black or Cherry Red. A black charging coaster will keep a drink hot while also charging the mug. The coaster uses a 120V power brick that plugs into a wall outlet.

Design and features
Firstly, the Thermacup Temperature Control Mug is extremely well-made. It’s well-balanced, easy to hold, and fits snugly on its charging coaster.
When I received the mug for review, it remained in the box for a week before I used it. I was sorry I missed that week. This mug is that nice.
Thermacup recommends that after unboxing, the mug should be fully charged before use. I simply plugged in the charging coaster and waited. Once charged, I poured a hot cup of coffee into it and set it on the coaster. I tend to drink coffee slowly while I work on freelance projects. My coffee would eventually get cool, even in my insulated cup with a lid. Not anymore.
A power button sits at the base of the mug. The button only needs a quick press to turn on, but requires many seconds of pressing to turn off.
I’m not a fan of piping hot coffee. I prefer warm, so I can occasionally gulp it without burning my throat. I set the temperature to 120°F, and the Thermacup mug maintains that temp as long as it’s charged. There are five temperature settings, shown by LED dots at the base of the mug. Each dot indicates an increase of 10°F, from 110° (the first lighted dot) to 150° (the fifth lighted dot). Charging is also indicated at the base of the mug by four green LED lights—each representing 25% increments. Easy math.
Depending on what temperature setting is chosen, that light will slowly pulse until the desired temp is reached—then remain on.
The Thermacup mug has a cool feature that regulates battery saving. The mug can sense if it contains liquid. As soon as the mug is empty, it shuts off.
Cleaning the mug is simple, but with one rule. No dishwasher! It can mess up the charging port located at the bottom of the mug. The ceramic coating is slippery, so wiping the mug down with a soapy sponge and rinsing is all that’s needed.
Since the mug is stainless steel hiding under a ceramic coating, microwaving is verboten.
The Thermacup Temperature Control Mug is simply a cup that keeps a drink as warm or hot as preferred. It may be a one-trick pony, but it’s good at doing that one trick!
Final thoughts
I have my favorite coffee mugs, or I should say, I did. The Thermacup Temperature Control Mug is now my favorite mug, hands down.
