1% for the Planet showcases leadership of Australian and New Zealand businesses driving global environmental impact
A new survey conducted through Harris Poll found that 65% of Australians aged 18–34 are more likely to purchase from a brand displaying the 1% for the Planet logo, and overall, 49% of people in Australia would be influenced to purchase because of our logo – the highest of any country globally.
1% for the Planet, the global organisation that certifies businesses’ environmental giving, celebrates the extraordinary leadership of Australian and New Zealand businesses that are helping to fuel a billion-dollar movement for the planet.
With 281 certified members across the region (255 in Australia) – including well-known names like Koala, 4 Pines, Pablo & Rusty’s, Lyka Pet Food and Optimising – Australia and New Zealand are the fourth-largest region globally. This region has become a thriving hub for the movement, demonstrating how businesses of every size, stage and industry can take verified action for the planet.
Since its founding, 1% for the Planet has certified more than $800 million in environmental giving, on track to surpass $1 billion in 2028. This funding supports over 7,200 vetted Environmental Partners globally, including Karrkad Kanjdji Trust, OzHarvest, Seed Mob, Bob Brown Foundation, Carbon Positive Australia and Clean Up Australia in our region. These organisations deliver on-the-ground impact, from protecting endangered wildlife and old-growth forests, to reducing toxic pollution and uplifting communities most affected by climate change.
That impact is already being felt across Australia and New Zealand. Koala for example, since partnering with WWF-Australia in 2017, has donated over $4M to conservation efforts. Their support has helped Bangalow Koalas plant over 450,000 trees as part of their efforts to restore native habitats in the area (they will hit 500,000 trees later this year). 4 Pines Brewing Co. has teamed up with Environmental Partner Landcare Australia to make the country greener, planting 44,444 plants, trees, shrubs, ground covers and grasses every year since 2021. Specialty coffee roaster Pablo & Rusty’s has planted more than 1,000 trees this year alone in partnership with Keep It Cool. And thanks to commitments from OXO and Scratch, OzHarvest has delivered 1.3 million meals to people in need, diverted 2.6 million kilograms of food from landfills and reduced carbon emissions, while also funding programs in 140 schools to equip 10,000 students with essential life skills in nutrition, food waste reduction and sustainability.

Return on Investment for Business Members
Membership in 1% for the Planet doesn’t just make a positive impact on the environment, it delivers tangible returns for businesses, too. In a recent analysis, 70% of member companies reported year-over-year revenue growth, demonstrating that sustainability and profitability go hand in hand.
“Doing good for the planet is also good for business,” said Kate Williams, CEO, 1% For the Planet. “In Australia and New Zealand, we’re seeing forward-thinking companies prove that environmental commitment isn’t charity – it’s strategy. Certification provides the credibility and trust that businesses need, while delivering the collective impact our planet demands.”
Certification also boosts brand equity by providing a trusted and recognisable mark that consumers actively look for. Beyond sales, businesses see improvements in employee attraction and retention, stronger customer loyalty, and higher engagement across stakeholders. In short, committing 1% of annual sales is an investment that generates both environmental and commercial returns.
