South Africa: SA Hockey Announces Senior Indoor High Performance And Junior World Cup U21 Training Squads

The Spar South Africa Women’s Indoor Hockey Team has confirmed their High Performance Squad for the upcoming season, ushering in a new era under newly-appointed head coach Calvin Price.

Price, who previously served as assistant coach and helped guide Namibia to a historic top-six finish at the 2025 Indoor Hockey World Cup, now leads the charge for South Africa as they look to build toward future success, starting with preparations for the prestigious Nkosi Cup in December.

The 32-player squad includes a powerful core of experienced players, notably five of the most capped athletes in South African Indoor Hockey history: Jamie Southgate (105 caps), Tegan Fourie (81), Jessica Lardant (76), Edith Molikoe (79), and Cheree Greyvenstein (75).

These stalwarts were all part of the squad that competed earlier this year at the Indoor World Series in Poreč, Croatia.

At the same time, the future is firmly in focus. The squad includes 11 uncapped players, showcasing a bold commitment to development and creating a healthy pipeline of young talent ready to break onto the international stage.

“It’s an exciting time for women’s indoor hockey in South Africa,” said Price.

“We have a phenomenal blend of battle-tested veterans and vibrant young players. The work starts now as we build something special for the future, and it’s a privilege to lead that journey.”

The squad will assemble for a series of training and selection camps later this year, culminating in their participation at the Nkosi Cup, a tournament that continues to grow in stature on the global indoor hockey calendar.

SA Hockey Names U21 Women’s Training Squad ahead of Junior World Cup Selection Camp

South African Hockey has announced the SA U21 Women’s Training Squad, a group of the brightest young stars in the country who have been invited to the final selection camp scheduled for early September.

From this group, the final squad for the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup will be named.

The Junior World Cup, set to take place in Santiago, Chile in December 2025, will mark South Africa’s 9th consecutive appearance at the prestigious tournament.

The team secured qualification by winning the Junior Africa Cup, a dominant display that affirmed their status as continental champions.

This remarkable group has also been recognised beyond the turf, having been named a finalist for Team of the Year at the 2025 gsport Awards, highlighting their role in elevating women’s sport in South Africa.

As preparations intensify, the players below will be competing for a place in the final squad that will proudly carry the nation’s flag in Chile.

With talent, determination and national pride on display, this group of young women represents the very best of South Africa’s next generation of hockey stars.

The final squad announcement, following the September camp, will set the stage for another exciting global journey as Team SA prepares for Chile.
