REVIEW – As my vehicles get older, I’ve been doing more repairs that require an impact wrench to remove bolts. Of course, that also requires impact sockets. I despise my current set of impact sockets, so when the Vevor 1/2″ Drive Impact Socket Set review offer came along, I saw it as the perfect time to replace them.

Design and features
If you’ve ever used an impact wrench and socket set, you know the joy of how easy it is to remove stubborn nuts and bolts. I’ve been wanting to get a new impact socket set for quite some time. My current impact sockets are a mixed-up collection of several brands, with both 6-point and 12-point sockets.
I have several issues with my current impact socket collection. First, I despise the 12-point sockets; they just don’t grip bolts very well, and they make it easier to strip a bolt head accidentally. I don’t remember where I got them from; they may have been a gift, or I may have purchased them to get one particular size I needed and didn’t notice that they were 12-point sockets. Either way, I hate them.

The VEVOR 1/2″ Drive Impact Socket Set caught my attention for a number of reasons. , but primarily because it includes all of the SAE and Metric sizes that I normally use, in one tool case. On some repair jobs, I’ve spent more time looking for the correct socket than the length of time the actual job took to complete.

The included tool case for the VEVOR 1/2″ Drive Impact Socket Set contains all of the tools in an easy-to-transport and store case. There are two sets of latches, two latches on the sides, and two on the front/top edge. I like the idea of being able to grab one toolbox and know I’ve got all of the sockets that I might need. The tool case measures 16.85″x21.06″x2.68″ (428mmx535mmx68mm) and weighs 32.85lbs (14.9kg). It’s a bit on the hefty side, but there’s no getting around that with this many tools, and the benefit of having everything in one toolbox is worth it.

I did find a couple of minor things that I would like to see improved with the tool case. First, the latch is pretty close to the edge, making it difficult to get your finger under when wearing gloves. Second, the spots for the sockets are not labeled, making it a little more difficult to determine which socket is missing or where each one goes.

The industrial-grade Cr-V alloy steel has a hardness of HRC42-48, being vacuum heat-treated. The socket corners have a radius corner design to avoid abrasion of the edges of nuts and bolts. The sizes are laser etched onto the socket, as well as a rolled size.
I wish the laser size etching was a little larger, though, but that’s nothing I can’t take care of with my laser. My eyes aren’t what they used to be.

Speaking of sizes, the sockets include the following sizes in both standard and deep sockets:
SAE: 3/8″, 7/16″, 1/2″, 9/16″, 5/8″, 11/16″, 3/4″, 13/16″, 7/8″, 15/16″, 1″, 1-1/16″, 1-1/8″, 1-1/4″
Metric: 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 21mm, 22mm, 23mm, 24mm

The set also includes extension bars in lengths of 3″, 5″, 10″, 1/2″ 72-tooth ratchet wrench, 1/2″ impact universal adapter, 1/2″F x 3/8″M adapter, and 3/8″F to 1/2″ M adapter.

Final thoughts
The VEVOR 1/2″ Drive Impact Socket Set has been a welcome addition to my tool collection. I’ve used them on several jobs and found no issues with them. The added benefit of having all the sizes in one box makes it much easier to gather tools for remote tasks; there’s no worry about whether you have all the sizes you’re going to need. This socket set will probably be my go-to set for the rest of my life.
