I am focusing my review on 2 of their premium golf ball models, the Volvik Condor and the Condor X. The Condor is a 3-piece golf ball, while the Condor X is a 4-piece golf ball. The Condor has an 85 compression, whereas the Condor X has a 95 compression. The Condor is more for swing speeds of 80+ mph, whereas the Condor X is for more swing speeds over 90+ mph. Both offer low long game spin, and both offer excellent short game spin.
Volvik as mentioned offers many other golf balls which I have also tried including their VTU3, VTU4, Vista, Axia, and Magma. I was just curious how their other golf balls would work with my swing speed and most did an above average job, and were all as long, if not a little longer than my current everyday golf ball. Also they also had some excellent greenside spin, so I was able to hit my chips and pitches and get them to stop quickly, maybe not as quick as a golf ball with a urethane cover, but better than a traditional distance or speed golf ball.
However, when it came to the Condor line from Volvik there were some noticeable benefits. First, the Condor was very long off the tee and felt very soft, including when putting. This is similar to the golf ball I normally play, but the Condor was definitely a little longer. The Condor X was an explosive golf ball of the tee. I was seeing at least 10-15 yards longer which was shocking to me. The only difference I could really tell was when putting, the Condor X seemed to also go further off the putter face so it would go past the hole, whereas the Condor if it went past so closer to the hole.
I would have to say that both the Condor and the Condor X were excellent and fun to play. I was reaching long par 4’s easily and with shorter irons than normal, which felt great. Both of the Volvik Condor golf balls had top notch stop and spin on the greens which you expect in a high-quality golf ball. If I was to choose one, I think I would prefer the Condor as I do fit into the 80+ mph swing speed, and the putting was just a tad better with it. I did let a few golf buddies try the Condor X golf balls, and they were crushing their drives, and they were amazed.
I can also say after also playing the Volvik VTU 3, VTU 4, and AXIA with ionomer covers were all very good golf balls. The only noticeable difference between them and the high-performance urethane cover Condor golf balls was they did not have as much greenside spin. They were all very long and had a good feel to them with my irons and putting. So, if price is a concern, for a little less money these golf balls are still all top-quality golf balls without question.
