2026 Bettinardi BB Putter Line Gets New Finish And Facelift

Keeping with their two-year release cycle, Bettinardi unveiled their 2026 BB line of putters today. This new release includes everything that we expect from a Bettinardi BB release as well as a few things that were unexpected.

In the 2026 Bettinardi BB putter line, you’ll find a wide array of head shapes including the perennial Bettinardi favorites and some new shapes.

Naturally, you’ll also find Bettinardi’s signature precision milling. As per usual, all of the new BB models are 100-percent milled in-house in Tinley Park, Ill.

I’m not downplaying these expected Bettinardi putter traits. I’m directing our attention to them right away. Just because we see these high-quality elements release after release doesn’t mean they are not still best-in-class design features and worthy of recognition.

What’s new in the 2026 Bettinardi BB line?

2026 Bettinardi BB Putter Line Gets New Finish And Facelift

Glad you asked. In fact, there are a couple of huge new things incorporated into the new BB line.

First, you have the greatest stock putter line finish since the rainbow hues of the 2011 Studio Stock line.

Second, you get to witness the possible death of the Inovai and Studio Stock lines.

Finally, you get to see Bettinardi’s new Variable Depth Fly-milling (VDF) face, a face that could improve your distance consistency by 30 percent.

I’ve got all of that information for you as well as in-hand shots of each model. Why don’t we dive right in?

Bettinardi’s new VDF (Variable Depth Flymilling) face

Bettinardi 2026 BB8W 8

Bettinardi is always willing to explore how new face-milling patterns can influence feel and play.

Their F.I.T (Feel Impact Technology) faces dramatically soften the impact experience. Their classic Honeycomb milling pattern delivers a perfectly uniform face with a firmer feel.

More recently, Bettinardi rolled out the Roll Control face whose asymmetrical groove design delivers a soft feel while promoting forward roll.

The new VDF face continues the performance enhancing theme of the Roll Control face but in a completely new way.

The new VDF face is nine different faces in one. Each ninth of the face is milled with a different geometry. The idea is that balls struck at different parts of the face behave differently. Each zone is milled to normalize the resulting roll after impact.

Bettinardi used Quintic extensively to design and test the new VDF face. What they found was that “the new face pattern produced approximately 30% less variation in effective distance and over 40% less variation in topspin across the top, middle and lower positions of the face when compared to a traditional flymill design.”

The new milling normalizes the energy transfer across the face. This in turn results in more consistent roll distances even when you miss the center of the face.

Even pros occasionally miss the center of the putter face

Bettinardi 2026 Featured 12

In many ways, the Bettinardi VDF story mirrors what Odyssey accomplished with their Ai-ONE insert. The difference is that Bettinardi did so while maintaining the 100-percent milled-face construction with their putters.

Perhaps a better comparison would be Evnroll’s Sweet Face grooves or PING’s now-retired TR Grooves. In those cases, the milled-face pattern reduced distance variation on strikes away from the center of the face. That’s what the VDF face accomplishes.

It’s worth noting that the VDF face still delivers the rich feel and tone expected from a Bettinardi putter.

You get the best of both worlds. The combination of feel and distance assistance should keep one of these 2026 BB models in your bag for a while.

The new finish is delicious

Bettinardi 2026 BB49 11

The Savannah Blue finish on the new 2026 Bettinardi BB putter line is outstanding. It’s almost too nice for a stock line of putters where non-interesting finishes, like all black or brushed silver, are the norm.

I’m not sure if the “Savannah” part of the name is referencing the city in Georgia or the ecosystem, especially since neither one of those places is especially blue.

It doesn’t really matter. Even if the finish was named You’re My Boy Blue, it would still be exceptional.

It has a very functional matte blue/grey base tone that is unobtrusive regardless of light level. Basically, it won’t distract you at address.

Once you look a little closer, you’ll see the true depth of the finish. The cavity and creases are stuffed with colors with various hues radiating along the lines of the head. A boring stock finish this is not, yet it is stock!

As a bonus, since this is a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finish, the thin layer will protect the underlying 303 stainless steel from corrosion.

It’s like a suit of armor with a limited-edition skin on top that you didn’t even need a gold loot crate to get it.

One big happy Bettinardi family

Bettinardi 2026 Featured 8

I mentioned we were witnessing the death of Bettinardi’s Inovai putter line. Some of you may have thought I was being overly dramatic. In fact, since we are also witnessing the death of the Studio Stock line, my level of drama was perhaps insufficient.

I’m still not totally over the loss of the RJB Signature line.

Going forward, Bettinardi has decided to consolidate all of their lines into one. That means this 2026 BB line features models and styles that once would have landed in one of the two now-extinct lines.

For example, the new BB6.0 has a very Inovai feel to it and the BB49 is a Studio Stock design in everything but name.

I don’t know why Bettinardi made this decision. Maybe the removal of old putter lines makes way for new ones. Are the Inovai and Studio Stock lines gone forever? Is anything ever really gone forever when it comes to putters?

Regardless, for this release, all putters are BB putters.

The 2026 Bettinardi BB putter line models

Bettinardi 2026 Featured 10

The 2026 BB line is a solid mixture of blades and mallets ranging from the traditional to the more experimental. All of them are one-piece, 303 stainless-steel milled construction. The stock shaft is brushed nickel with a Bettinardi-branded grey Lamkin grip.

Bettinardi 2026 BB1

Bettinardi 2026 BB1 1

Obviously, Bettinardi had to include a BB1 in the new line. The 2026 BB1 has all of the classic Anser-style elements. The top section is flat but every other edge is soft. Each edge flows into the next, creating the classic Dalehead look that folks who play this type of putter look for.

Bettinardi 2026 BB1 10

What is great about this version of the BB1 is that the new VDF milled face gives a putter that is not usually packed with forgiveness and assistance both of those characteristics.

There is no denying that mallets are increasing in popularity but there is just something inherently satisfying about seeing a classic blade shape done right.

Bettinardi 2026 BB8W

Bettinardi 2026 BB8W 1

Do you like your blades a little more chunky? The BB8W is for you. If edge flow is a no-go, you’ll appreciate the BB8W’s sharp edges. This putter is not about curves. It is about giving you a series of right angles and straight lines that you can use to aim the putter at address.

Bettinardi 2026 BB8W 10

Naturally, the BB8W also serves as a transition from a classic blade shape to a larger mallet. You get some of the enhanced MOI characteristics of a mallet without completely giving up the look of the blade.

While I think that I prefer the rounded look of the BB1, I know I make more putts with the squared-off BB8W. All of the lines of the putter, not just the sight line, influence my aim and ultimately performance.

Bettinardi 2026 BB28

Bettinardi 2026 BB28 1

The BB28 is another Bettinardi staple shape. It may have originated through their partnership with Matt Kuchar but, since then, it has developed into its own independent entity.

As with the BB8W, the BB28 is a fine example of how relatively small tweaks in design influence perception and performance.

The BB28 has about the same footprint as the BB8W but, at address, they have a very different look. The BB28 is the love child of the BB8W and the BB1. It’s boxy in the front but flowing in the rear.

Bettinardi 2026 BB28 8

(Maybe that makes it more mullet than mallet.)

Of course, it is more than looks. When you change the shapes of the bumpers, you also change the weight distribution in the head. As with different hosels, the weight positioning will prove helpful or harmful depending on the individual golfer.

Bettinardi 2026 BB49

Bettinardi 2026 BB49 1

The BB49 is my favorite new model and that is a problem.

Ever since the Queen B 10, Bettinardi’s round mallets with slant necks capture a ridiculous amount of my attention. It’s a problem because my trip to Studio B a few years ago determined that this setup is not ideal for me (assuming the goal of using a putter is to make putts).

Bettinardi 2026 BB49 8

As with that person that keeps friend-zoning you, it is tough not to think that this time it will be different.

My putting with the BB49 is not terrible and it feels so good. Still, I know she will abandon me (again) when things get stressful on the course.

Ultimately, I will go back to the Antidote SB3 that treats me better but some part of me will continue to long for the destructive deep toe-hanging caress of the BB49.

Bettinardi 2026 BB6.0

Bettinardi 2026 BB6.0 1

If you were thinking that this was a new Inovai 6.0, that’s OK. You probably jumped straight to the pictures and skipped over my important ramblings about how the Inovai family no longer exists. I’m not mad. I like to look at the photos as well and I’m the one that took them.

Anyway, the 2026 BB6.0 is the new fang-shaped mallet in the family. As with the new Antidote SB3, this putter is completely milled from 303 stainless steel.

This further separates the new BB6.0 from the Inovai line whose heads are combinations of steel and aluminum.

Bettinardi 2026 BB6.0 9

The overall shape of the BB6.0 is similar to the Inovai 6 but the proportions are very different. In a word, this putter is much thinner. This is readily apparent at the front edge but also in the profile of the fangs. Since the fangs are made of heavier stainless steel, the weight distribution is different from the Inovai as well.

“Different” is not a judgemental term, just a description and, perhaps, a warning.

If you have a Inovai 6 and you buy a BB6.0 expecting it to be the same, it won’t be. The flip side is that if you tried an Inovai 6 and it was not a match, you should still check out the BB6.0. The new build properties may fit your stroke better.

Bettinardi 2026 BB7.0

Bettinardi 2026 BB7.0 11

It took me a minute to really see the BB7.0. Like those old Magic Eye posters, I had to stare at it for a while before I saw the hidden image.

What I finally figured out was that the BB7.0 was a Bettinardi Baby Ben.

It’s not made of aluminum, and Jim Furyk did not use it to win the 2003 U.S. Open, but I can’t help seeing a Baby Ben when I look at the BB7.0.

They share the same classic Bettinardi hourglass shape.

Bettinardi 2026 BB7.0 6

As with the BB6.0, the BB7.0 is one-piece milled from stainless steel and it is also a thin putter.

Not only is the overall profile thin but when you look at the sole, you’ll see that Bettinardi has removed a large portion of the material from the underside.

Bettinardi 2026 BB7.0 4

Weight removal influences the head weight. The total weight of 363 grams is on the light side for a mallet. The removal of the center material also boosts the MOI by having more of the material at the perimeter.

Bettinardi 2026 Featured 11

Between the two mallets, I found the BB7.0 to be more point-and-shoot than the BB6.0. This was a little surprising considering my recent SB3 play.

There is just something about how the BB7.0 sits behind the ball that works for me. My guess is that it’s the long ball-width lines that run the length of the putter.

By the way, if you are wondering about the decimals in the BB6.0 and BB7.0 names, I think they will be used for neck variations that come later. Both of these models have spud hosels, perhaps giving them the “X.0” nomenclature.

Just my speculation but it makes sense.

Final thoughts about the 2026 Bettinardi BB putter line

Bettinardi 2026 Featured 9

This is one of the most compelling BB putter lines Bettinardi has ever produced. They have Bettinardi’s exceptional craftsmanship, a range of models suited for lots of golfers’ play needs, a next-level new finish, and new VDF face milling that will help you roll the ball more consistently.

I’m not sure what more Bettinardi could pack into a stock putter line.

The $495 price is steep but you are getting a lot of value for all those dollars. I’ve heard some people say Bettinardi’s putters may be pretty but they don’t perform as well as they look.

When I hear this, I suggest they explore how the Inovai 6 placed in the 2024 Most Wanted Mallet test (first overall.)

Bettinardi 2026 Featured 4

With this new line, I will now ask a skeptic to check out the feel and results produced by the new face.

There is no arguing that a flat-faced BB1 or any similar putter normally lacks helpful technologies. The new grooves are assistive and corrective. In 2026, the BB1 you’ve always pined for but performed poorly with can now make you a better putter.

That’s all I have for now. I need to head back to the garage and see if the BB49 needs anything.
