The college football transfer portal window officially closes on Jan. 16 (unless you’re playing for the Miami Hurricanes or Indiana Hoosiers). Although we’ve seen a flurry of movement, there are still thousands of players looking for a new home. Who are the best players available in the college football transfer portal after the first weekend of movement?
Our top 25 remaining players in the college football transfer portal are compiled using PFSN College Impact Metrics, with analysis from Josh Weil, Terrance Biggs, and Oliver Hodgkinson.
25) Gavin Sawchuk, RB
This one could already be outdated by the time you read it, such is the pace of development in the transfer portal. As of 7 a.m. ET on Jan. 12, Florida State running back Gavin Sawchuk was still available, but following a positive visit to Tennessee, that might not be the case much longer.
It’s not Sawchuk’s first dalliance with the portal, having spent three years at Oklahoma before his sole campaign with the Seminoles. While he’s never reached the highs of his recruiting profile, his 2023 campaign (744 yards and nine touchdowns) shows what he’s capable of, while this last fall saw him develop as a pass catcher out of the backfield, adding further value.
24) Beau Pribula, QB
Beau Pribula joined Missouri after two seasons as Drew Allar’s backup at Penn State. In 10 games, he recorded 1,941 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions, and ran for 297 yards with six rushing touchdowns.
His dual-threat capability is likely to make him a valued prospect for his redshirt senior season. As a starting quarterback, Pribula had a 7-3 record during his one-year tenure at Missouri.
23) Gavin Harris, TE
Gavin Harris is no stranger to the transfer portal, having started his career at Howard, played for Central Michigan in 2024, and then landed with the New Mexico State Aggies in 2025. He put together a breakout campaign in CUSA last fall, tallying 541 yards and a score, which should help highlight his pass-catching prowess for a Power Four suitor.
22) Cade Uluave, LB
Cade Uluave emerged as one of the nation’s premier linebackers during his three seasons at Cal. He earned Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors in 2023, followed by All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2024 and First Team All-ACC recognition in 2025. The 6’1″, 235 pounds linebacker is equal parts force and football intelligence, making him a legitimate game-changer.
21) Iverson Hooks, WR
Iverson Hooks emerged as one of the American Conference’s premier receivers in 2025, earning Second Team All-Conference honors after recording 72 catches for 927 yards and seven touchdowns. A former high school quarterback, the UAB standout brings athleticism and route-running polish that have drawn interest from programs like LSU, Oregon, and Auburn.
20) DeAndre Moore Jr., WR
DeAndre Moore Jr. might not be the highest-graded wide receiver available in the transfer portal, but it’s still surprising to see the former Texas playmaker still looking for a team.
His 2025 campaign was a little below par, but he’s a year removed from a breakout performance in the SEC Championship Game defeat to Georgia. He’s expected to remain in the SEC, with reports suggesting he could commit to the Kentucky Wildcats as early as Jan. 12.
19) Jonas Duclona, USF
Jonas Duclona began his career at Wisconsin, appearing in 16 games over two seasons primarily on special teams. After transferring to USF for 2025, he earned a starting role, recording 35 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and four pass deflections in 10 games.
His physical style and improved coverage skills have made him an intriguing option for programs seeking experienced secondary depth. Like several of his teammates, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Duclona land on the Plains with his former head coach.
18) Owen Snively, iOL
A consistent presence on the PFSN College team of the week during the 2025 college football campaign, Owen Snively’s performances were a bright spot for an Eastern Michigan offense that had its struggles last fall. He’s a versatile, athletic force who was a three-sport standout in high school. It’s a second dip into the portal for Snively, who started his career at Colorado State.
17) Davion Weatherspoon, iOL
Davion Weatherspoon has established himself as one of the MAC’s most versatile offensive linemen, appearing in 38 games for Ohio in three seasons. The 6’3″, 305-pound offensive lineman has been a pivotal cog of a team with no fewer than nine wins in each of his campaigns with the Bobcats.

His ability to play both interior and tackle positions makes him a valuable commodity in the transfer portal for teams seeking experienced line depth. His 79.9 PFSN College OL Impact score leads all remaining FBS offensive linemen in the portal.
16) Jeremiah Jordan, DB
Former Memphis safety Jeremiah Jordan entered the college football transfer portal with one season of production with the Tigers.
It was a stellar campaign, however, earning an 80.0 PFSN College SAF Impact score and tallying six pass breakups, two tackles for loss, and a sack as a multi-phase disruptor capable of going toe-to-toe in coverage or rolling up his sleeves and getting amongst it down by the line of scrimmage.
15) Kendrick Raphael, RB
After beginning his career at NC State, Kendrick Raphael transferred to Cal and earned Honorable Mention All-ACC recognition in 2025. He rushed for 943 yards on 232 carries with 13 touchdowns (12 rushing, one receiving), ranking third in the ACC in rushing touchdowns. He’s been a consistent Power Four producer, so he shouldn’t be available for much longer.
14) Jonathan Pennix, DB
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles enjoyed a turnaround season under Charles Huff, partly due to some of the playmakers he added to the roster for the 2025 campaign.
Jonathan Pennix is a former Virginia Tech defensive back who thrived at the Group of Six level, tallying two interceptions and six pass breakups, and allowing the second-lowest QB passer rating when targeted among all Sun Belt cornerbacks (56.8).
13) Edward Rhambo, DB
Nevada defensive back Edward Rhambo is back in the transfer portal for the second successive season, having bolstered his resume in one year at the Mountain West team. A former Bowling Green playmaker, Rhambo has now tallied 57 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss, an interception, and 11 pass breakups in two seasons, with an 80.6 PFSN Impact score in 2025.
12) Traevon Mitchell, DL
Traevon Mitchell’s journey from Division II standout to FBS contributor highlights his development as a disruptive interior presence. At West Florida, he earned Gulf South Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year honors with 46 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
After transferring to USF for 2025, the 6’0″, 265-pound tackle recorded 29 tackles and two sacks in 11 games, proving he could compete at a higher level. With head coach Alex Golesh taking the reins at Auburn, Mitchell could be terrorizing SEC offenses in 2026.
11) Trey Lathan, LB
Teams looking to upscale their linebacker room should be furiously dialling former Kansas standout Trey Lathan before more dominoes fall following the commitment of Rasheem Biles. The Jayhawk juggernaut is a smart, instinctual playmaker who is equally capable coming downhill to smash you in the mouth as he is impacting the passing game in coverage.
With 198 career tackles, 17.0 of which were for loss, across a four-year career that started at West Virginia, with a first career interception in 2025, Lathan’s numbers match his tape, earning an 81.3 PFSN College LB Impact score in his sole campaign in Lawrence.
10) Andrew Body, QB
With one year of eligibility remaining and recent success at Alabama State, quarterback Andrew Body is one of the top options at the position remaining in the college football transfer portal.
Having transferred from Texas Southern to Alabama State, Body’s 70.6% completion rate and 20:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio signal his potential as a valuable addition. Teams aiming to build a strong foundation could view him as a significant, if subtle, contributor.
9) Bruin Fleischmann, TE
Bruin Fleischmann enjoyed a breakout 2025 campaign, earning Honorable Mention All-Mountain West honors with 21 catches for 370 receiving yards, the most by an Air Force tight end since 2008, and six touchdowns.
The 6’5″, 235-pound senior averaged an impressive 17.6 yards per reception, showcasing his ability as a downfield threat. His production in a run-heavy offense suggests untapped potential in a more pass-oriented system.
8) Devin Dye, DB
After impressing for the Utah State Aggies in 2023, Devin Dye landed with Big 12 outfit Kansas. He was a five-game starter in 2024, and while he only made one start in 2025, he appeared in 11 games with 26 tackles, a sack, four pass breakups, and an interception.

He models his game on Budda Baker and should find a Power Four home for his combative playmaking.
7) Mandrell Desir, DL
Mandrell Desir made an immediate impact as a true freshman, earning Freshman All-American honors and All-ACC Honorable Mention recognition. Desir recorded 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks — third-most for a true freshman in FSU history — while adding a forced fumble.
His 6.5 sacks led all ACC freshmen and ranked third nationally among true freshmen, making him one of the most coveted defensive linemen in the portal.
6) Willizhuan Yates, DB
In two seasons with the Ball State Cardinals, Willizhuan Yates has established himself as a disruptive force in the secondary and has already earned multiple offers at high-profile Group of Six schools.
He’s tallied seven total pass breakups in his career, with an interception in both years. His 84.3 PFSN College CB Impact score is the highest among any FBS defensive back in the transfer portal.
5) Sam Leavitt, QB
We’re closer to the transfer portal window closing than opening, and many people would have scoffed to see Sam Leavitt still remaining. The Arizona State Sun Devil quarterback wowed during the 2024 season, and despite a more difficult final season in Tempe that was impacted by injury, he is still highly regarded in college football circles.
Leavitt brings 4,652 career passing yards with 46 total touchdowns to a new home. He’s somewhat been a victim of the circumstances swirling around him, such as Demond Williams Jr. being tampered with by LSU while the Tigers hosted the former Sun Devil, and shouldn’t remain on this list for much longer.
4) Taron Dickens, QB
Taron Dickens set the NCAA record for consecutive completions earlier this season, connecting for 46 passes without an incompletion against Wofford. He ended the year with 3,508 passing yards and 38 touchdowns, with just two interceptions, while adding 321 rushing yards and a score.
The redshirt sophomore has the arm talent to thread tight window passes and drop it into the bucket outside the numbers while boasting the football intelligence to be risk-averse, which shows in his low turnover numbers. His 92.2 PFSN College QB Impact score ranked sixth among FCS quarterbacks this fall.
3) Damon Wilson II, EDGE
A dominant pass rusher with high-level production in the 2025 season for the Missouri Tigers, Damon Wilson II shouldn’t take too long to find a new home. He registered 9.5 tackles for loss with nine sacks last fall, while adding an interception to his resume.
The former Georgia Bulldog has at least 0.5 sacks every season he’s played in the SEC, showcasing his ability to be disruptive at the most competitive level in the sport.
2) Wendell Gregory, EDGE
Wendell Gregory didn’t get much of a chance to prove himself at South Carolina, as he just recorded a single tackle in 2024. For the Oklahoma State Cowboys, he has 27 tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble after a season, and looks poised to grow on that at his next stop.
The former South Carolina recruit could very well find himself back in the SEC, but in any case, he should make a significant impact next season.
1) Justice Haynes, RB
After two seasons as a role player for the Alabama Crimson Tide, Justice Haynes entered the transfer portal last fall and became an integral part of the Michigan Wolverines’ offense when he was on the field, rushing for 857 yards at 10 touchdowns on just 121 carries. He’s back on the move, with a potential reunion with Alabama on the cards, according to multiple reports.
Until he’s committed, he’ll be the top option for teams still looking to add talent to the roster this offseason. Haynes registered an 81.1 PFSN College RB Impact score from his sole season in Ann Arbor, the best mark among FBS running backs still available.
