The 1994 Miss World has a Bollywood career that has lasted over decades and is celebrated by her fans and critics alike. However, even during the epitome of her success, it is known that Aishwarya dealt with some setbacks. The famous actress was made to withdraw from 5 different movies opposite Shah Rukh Khan, and they went on to outshine the box office. It appears that an explanation for the same was never given to her.

However, it is said that due to certain professional disagreements, Shah Rukh Khan excluded Aishwarya from five different films he was in.

Aishwarya, during an interview with Simi Garewal on her show Rendezvous, had agreed to the fact that she was made to drop out of at least five different hits starring Shah Rukh Khan. The list included some blockbusters, which were written while keeping her in mind, like Veer-Zaara, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Chalte Chalte. According to the former Miss World, she never got an explanation for these actions but felt very disheartened.

The actress said, “There were a couple of films that were supposed to happen with me. But suddenly they weren’t happening, without any reason whatsoever. When she was asked if she chose to take a step back from these films, she said, “No, it wasn’t my decision. You obviously are taken aback, confused, and, of course, hurt. You wonder about it. She also mentioned that she never questioned the decisions, saying, “It’s not in my nature to get into questioning what and why.”

Later, Shah Rukh Khan had explained that he regretted that decision as well. He explained that he had always seen Aishwarya as a good friend and admitted that it was a mistake to make that decision. “To start a project with someone and then change her for no fault of hers is very difficult. It is very sad, as Ash is a good friend. Personally, I think I did wrong. But as a producer, it made sense. I apologized to Ash, he said in an interview with India Today in 2003.
What was the reason behind Shah Rukh Khan’s action
Though there is no official reason for the actions, it is said that Shah Rukh took the action due to the actress’s rocky relationship with the actor Salman Khan during that time. Reports during the time suggested that Aishwarya Rai had already been signed for Chalte Chalte; however, she dropped out after Salman Khan came to the sets and caused trouble. The rumors suggest that the actor had gotten into a tussle with Shah Rukh, which might be the reason behind the decision.

And of course, how can anyone forget the Katrina Kaif birthday party incident back in 2008? Reports suggest that the two Khans had a physical fight over Aishwarya Rai back then. The actors later reconciled at Baba Siddiqui’s party in 2013. The last time we saw Aishwarya and Shah Rukh opposite each other was in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016).
